Writing Coach

I have had the pleasure of working with Diana Amsterdam as my writing coach.  She is a superb instructor in the craft of writing. Her homework exercises are deceptively simple – the student is required to think clearly in framing responses. Yet the results are extremely revealing. In reviewing and commenting on the writing itself, Ms. Amsterdam’s comments are both insightful and instructive. Her explanations are clear, and her Socratic teaching method is truly enjoyable. Of the numerous writing instructors I have worked with over the years, Ms. Amsterdam is far and away the best. I cannot praise her highly enough.

Why work with a coach?

When you want to build muscle fast and get the moves right, you work with a coach.  I am with you page by page, draft by draft, until you achieve the Seal of Readiness.  When we are through, you possess the skills, know-how and confidence to write on your own, and to bring your story to the world.

Why work with me?

I’m honest.  And tough.  At this point in my career, I don’t need you.  You need me.  I accept very few coaching students.  If you want to work with me, you must demonstrate a willingness to learn, to practice, to apply what I teach–and to work.  And there is also something called talent.  This is a very competitive business.  Whatever folks may tell you, trust me, if you don’t have at least a modicum of writing ability,  you won’t make it, so don’t waste your time and money.
